O.0 What a lonely section of Rootmanga =(
Anyway, I guess I will start this section off with a review for Rozen Maiden, which I have been watching absurdly late, so pardon this being terribly late (to the tune of 3-4 years). However, its nice enough to warrant a review I suppose. Oh, and I guess its not so much of a "review" as a "summary & please watch" advertisement

Summary:

Rozen Maiden is about Jun Sakurada, a young social outcast who you really want to kill because of his pathetic personality. Entranced by anything that might involve the supernatural, he locks himself in his room with his computer buying all sorts of things from mail order websites. However, after receiving an inconspicuous note and accepting his "reward", Jun stumbles upon a suitcase in his room. Upon opening, he finds a doll; upon winding it up, the doll comes to life and introduces itself as Shinku. Little does Jun know, Shinku is just one of the several dolls in the Rozen Maiden series, a collection of anthropomorphic dolls that must destroy each other to become the next "Alice"

Taking this from some other site I read on a review of Rozen Maiden, this kind of concept is very similar to Zach Bell, in that familiars come and find random people and fight each other to become something fantastical. At times, the story is a bit absurd in the differences in powers between the protagonists and antagonists, often to create more of a struggle but being somewhat illogical from a competitive sense. The story itself jumps around from being a light-hearted slice of life (with dolls =P) and a reflective serious contemplation of existance and meaning (they're dolls designed to kill each other at heart). Ultimately, this does contribute to the story as a whole instead of detracting from anything as theres a niche for many people and the story helps color the characters quite well.
Characters:

If anything, the characters in the anime (yes its a manga too but I haven't gotten around to buying them) are very complex and unique. Although many of them have some sort of generic archetype, characters do show development and complexity that extends past their established character. Cliche? Possibly at times (miserable shut-in who slowly opens up to the world? check) but in honesty, with what it does without destroying the genre and trying to be too unique.
Animation and Art:

Okay, I feel incredibly underqualified to consider something in terms of animation. Usually anything that looks smooth is okay. So, yes. The art work is pretty and the character designs are all taken from differing styles of "Lolita fashion" apparently (honesly, I wouldn't have made that connection myself but I don't know fashion) but it all looks good. Watching it feels smooth and doesn't really suck. Yea, I can't critque this section unless its atrocious.
Hmm, I can't think of anything to add to this, further demonstrating my lack of any qualifications at reviewing things. If you'd like, you can go and find some other review and it'd be a lot more comprehensive.
All images are from the internet and further demonstrate a lack of ability in terms of creating ones own artwork. (Thank you people who I stole images from)
Oh, what the hell: Desu
