You can become a director if you have a few willing friends and a script of some sorts. You could even adapt the rp's we do into a script.

All you need is friends that are willing to act out the parts in a script. If you don't want to write the script then you can get a friend to write it or take a play and cast your own vision on it. All you need after the script is some time and a camera and outfits that will fit whatever your script is. You can modernized whatever you do to use normal everyday clothes. Pick out some nice places that should go with the scenes and have friends recite the lines and act the parts. I would help but since I don't live in cali with you the most I can help you with is a script. Directing doesn't have to be professional, if you want to do it then do it.
