U.S. Anime Magazines Pulled
Submitted by Chris on 2010-07-27 23:53:07 in Anime & Manga

U.S. Kinokuniya has decided to stopping selling several magazines after "questionable material". Magazine Megami, Megami Deluxe, Nyantype, Dengeki Hime, Dengeki Moeoh all have been pulled by U.S. Kinokuniya and subscriptions have all been stopped. They are afraid that contents in the magazine could be portrayed as child porn. While none of the magazine actually contain any sexual situation, IE. sex, U.S. Kinokuniya still feels the need to remove these magazines from their shelves.

Whats next? Banning anime where imaginary character seem to be underage engaging what seems to be inappropriate ? That pretty much all of them!

Typical page in one of these magazines (Maybe inappropriate for very offendable people):

Oh, you can still buy them online, albeit incredibly high prices.

Well, that "typical page" could most definately be considered child pornography. However I'm fairly sure that the manga and anime community is pretty much used to it. From randomly placed bath house scenes to clumsy male characters stumbling in on naked women/girls or into them. That on top of the blatant sexual "undertones" and perverted comments made in a lot of anime and manga has made all of us pretty desensitized to stuff like that. You would think they would have realised what they were selling to start with. Also having sold so much of it already...is there really a point in quiting?

I understand what problems they could possibly have. The U.S. is also way strict on these things, so what can you expect. Though I think they might have been lax before because it was a comic. *shrug*
